Inmate, Former Football Star Blogs

Former Ohio State Buckeye football sensation Maurice Clarett will have a job after serving his 2006 conviction for aggravated robbery and carrying a concealed weapon – at No Limit Media Consulting.

While I am joking (I think), the inmate certainly understands the power of Social Media (as quoted on ESPN.com.

“There’s no need to talk to a reporter these days. I am my own newspaper. I am my own editor. I am my own censor. I am able to put things into the proper context,” he writes in an entry dated Feb. 28. “I am able to control the content and I am educated enough to accurately express myself. I am able to distinguish to people in a unique fashion that football is just something that I do. Football is not Maurice Clarett.”

There is no need to talk to a reporter these days – he says. Hmm. Isn’t that what I have been preaching to my public relations clients for the last year. YOU have the ability to become the media with Social Media. The power is, well, unbelievable.

I still HIGHLY value traditional forms of media – but, franchisors can now promote their own news through blogging. Blogging provides an outlet where everything you think is news, is, well, news.

Think about the power.
