Another One Bites the Dust: Condé Nast Folds Portfolio

Attention Magazine, Newspaper Publishers:

Please be fair warned that the state of journalism and mass communication is adapting. Newspapers and magazines must progress into a virtual universe and provide speedy, targeted content full of interactive extras. If you, as a publisher, are unwilling to change, then I wish you the best of luck in your next career.

Another publication dies. Another staff gets laid off. Is this avoidable? Absolutely. By progressing to a more cost efficient model on the Web, publishers have the possibility of continuing their beloved news outlets.

Good luck.

TwitInterviews – New Age Journalism

Whenever there is a great invention (Twitter), it is quickly followed by great piggybacked ideas (TwitInterviews). This morning while shuffling through the Help a Reporter Out, I stumbled upon Kim Beasley’s posting – requesting to interview executives not via phone, or email, but through the powers of Twitter. While TwitInterviews is a start-up, it surely seems like a great idea for progressing the art of the interview into Twitterland.

TwitInterview is the brainchild of Kim Beasley to use Twitter as a way to interview industry experts and business owners so that they can share their knowledge. Kim’s whole goal is to allow the interviewees the opportunity to impart knowledge to Tweeters that will help them grow their business or enhance their online presence.

Over the course of the next several years, we are going to see many variations of Facebook, MySpace, Twitter, YouTube, Blogger, etc. This is a given. Great ideas breed greater uses of that great idea. The media is already adapting toward virtual existence (franchisors, franchisees, current and former journalists might be interested in http://www.hometowntimes.com/). TwitInterviews is a great first step toward the future of communication.
